Finally the venerable Raiden, God of Thunder introduces himself in the all new episode of the acclaimed web series.
Forget all about animation and the fantasy of Outworld, as the sixth of nine installments in director Kevin Tancharoen's re-imagining of the Mortal Kombat franchise Mortal Kombat: Legacy has hit the net!
Starring Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary) as Lord Raiden, the sixth episode shows the journey of the God of Thunder, as Raiden himself rides the lightning down to Earth to enter the tournament and stop Shao Kahn, with the unfortunate aim of landing himself in a mental institution. The doctors naturally mistake him for crazy, and subject him to the most barbaric treatments this side of Outworld!
Complete with an opening scrawl prefacing the tone, episode six returns to the grittier tone outlined in director Kevin Tancharoen's grittier concept trailer for Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, offering a more grounded (heh) look at the character with only small doses of mysticism. We're not sure of any known counterpart to his companion Blue, but Raiden's got his hat! Keep your eyes peeled, and be sure to let us know of any easter eggs we missed in the comments below!
The nine-part web series sprang from director Kevin Tancharoen's concept trailer for Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, a gritty re-imagining of the franchise characters in a real-world police procedural setting.
Written by Tancharoen and Spartacus: Blood and Sand writers Todd and Aaron Helbing and starring Michael Jai White, Jeri Ryan and Ian Anthony Dale, the series will mainly follow Scorpion, tasked by Jax and Sonya enter the underground tournament and bring down Shang Tsung, amidst his own personal vendetta against Sub-Zero. At least that's what we thought, before five episodes went by and we've yet to meet him!
