One thing that always has interested fans about series like Friday the 13th and Halloween is the changes made to the main character. Michael always had a new mask and coveralls and Jason apparently shopped at the same department store because his look would change from film to film. Since a Friday doesn't fall on a 13th for the rest of this year what better day than today to look back and talk a little bit about the different looks and if our favorites differ from yours.
Friday the 13th: We only get a quick glimpse of the boy Jason in the original Friday the 13th but the old saying "less is more" worked wonders for the film's final scare. This one shot of the water weathered retard can still send shivers down your spine and make you think twice before leaning over the edge of a canoe. Sitting at the bottom of a lake for several years can't be good for the complexion especially for a kid who didn't look too hot to begin with.

Friday the 13th Part 2: From Water boy to back hills, red neck, plaid shirt mountain man (what a mouth full). One of our favorite looks of Jason in the Friday the 13th series is during his brief bag-less appearance as he crashes through the window long stringy hair and all. Extremely frightening even for this day and age. Get away from me you lazy eyed psycho!!!

Friday the 13th Part 3: In this installment Jason scores the iconic hock from that annoying dork Shelley all while going bald (a look he would continue to sport for some time). Out of all the mugs this may be the most realistic face Jason had. Extremely life like along with scars and mutation made this Jason appear more similar to the unstoppable tank he would later become (Jason also picked his most famous scar in this entry by taking an axe to the head).

Friday the 13th - The Final Chapter: Even more grotesque in part 4, Jason's face is an amplified look from part 3 however not as animate making it appear more as a very detailed mask instead of make-up. Still, this is all easily overlooked when mere seconds after his mask is removed his face takes a nasty beating by his own machete. We can see that bald head sliding down the side of that blade right now . . . EWWWWW!!!

Friday the 13th Part V - A New Beginning: No Jason here folks. Yes, we see his ghost but not without the hock. Still, we do get an unmasking of the copy cat (Roy) who looks like John Doe. It's kind of refreshing for the series in a sense yet you also feel like you were betrayed all at the same time. You want something different but you still want Jason. Either way you see it, Part 5 stands out as the entry with no Jason.

Friday the 13th Part VI - Jason Lives: In case you didn't know, in part 6 Jason graduates from mongoloid retard to supernatural zombie! Unlike previous films where we had to wait until the closing moments for the money shot, we get a good look at Jason's decayed face to kick things off. Honestly, he looks like what any rotting corpse would look like . . . nasty. From cobwebs to maggots, it's alive, ALIVE!!!

Friday the 13th Part VII -The New Blood: Personally this was our favorite unmasked look. Sure, over all we like our Jason a little more based in reality with a human touch but if chained to the bottom of the lake can do this to a guy then I'm not ever going near water again. Unstoppable force is the best phrase to describe this beast and his look reflects it. Exposed bone, eye socket, jaw, rotting flesh and that big foggy eye made us just wet ourselves.

Friday the 13th Part VIII - Jason Takes Manhattan: Well, probably one of our least favorite looks. We are shocked how they could go from part 7 to this. Sure, he takes a shot of toxic waste to the face but his light greyish, melted mug just doesn't seem to quite fit the character. And then he turns into baby Jason for some reason? It was as if they spent all their budget on the New York location and then with the couple bucks they had left they skipped over to the local costume shop for this mask . . . hold on, the movie takes place in New York for only 10 minutes? WHAT!?!?!?!

Jason Goes to Hell - The Final Friday: Easily Jason's best look overall yet we never get to see him mask-less (we never felt so ripped off in all our movie going days). However, he does get blown into a million pieces so does that count? Then we don't get to see Jason as Jason the rest of the movie. Fun idea, right? However, for you die hards who can't handle this sad news there are masks and concepts out there of what Jason may have looked liked but we'll never know for sure. (CLICK HERE FOR A SNEAK PEEK)

Jason X: Whoever thought taking Jason to space was a good idea please raise your hand and pay no attention to the red dots that appear on your forehead (damn you Todd Farmer, we still love you though). However, on a positive note we are redeemed from the no show in Goes to Hell and get a quick glimpse in X. Unfortunately he kind of looks like a muppet on roids if you ask us. What could be worse, it's not like they made him into a cyborg and ditched the hock for a "Mighty Ducks" mask, right?

Freddy Vs. Jason: Again, we don't officially get a look at Jason's face but behind the scenes photos have surfaced revealing what was going on behind the hock. It's a pretty standard look that seems to be a mix between the droopy eyed retard with the dark coloring of his zombie escapades. What's more noticeable is Jason's change in height . . . he apparently grew over a foot taller from the last time we saw him on screen. Must have been awkward to hit puberty so late. You can hear the taunts now, "how's the weather up there?"

Friday the 13th - (2009) Remake: The most realistic Jason to date ditches the zombie garb and goes back to basics with an oversized, deformed retard. When he loses the sack in exchange for the hock we do get a quick glimpse but nothing that satisfies the appetite. Then, during the film's finale when the perfect mask-less situation presents itself we are completely screwed over (won't spoil it for you anti-remake folks). Yet, as with Freddy vs. Jason we are treated to some behind the scene pics and we can conclusively agree that it is the scariest look Jason has had yet . . . just a shame we didn't get to see it on film.
