"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" Sequel Gets Official Title and Release Date

New postby Shakelford, J. Rusty » Fri Jun 01, 2012 9:09 pm

Per 20th Century Fox it has just been announced that that the sequel to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is now officially called "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and it will hit theaters on Memorial Day weekend of 2014 (May 23rd, 2014).

Director Rupert Wyatt will return to helm and has previously said that the story will take place about eight years after the last film and will show how the apes wage a war against the humans.

"Apes are taking over cities and being moved into human environments and having to interact with them and deal with things that are part of our culture," he explained. "Humans [exist] underground, because that's a way they can avoid the virus, coming up above ground wearing gas masks, and maybe that's what dehumanizes them."
