As announced by THR, Samuel L. Jackson will be joining cast mates Joel Kinnamon and Gary Oldman in the potential blockbuster which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2013.

Jose Padilha is directing the film, which sees Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title hero, a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer. Oldman takes on the role of his scientist-creator, with newly announced Jackson playing the part of Pat Novak, a charismatic media mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world.
Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman are producing the film, which is eyeing a September shoot in Toronto.
