Stephen King's IT Remake Back On, To Be Two Films

New postby NatBrehmer » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:34 am

News broke this morning that the theatrical adaptation of IT (previously adapted for television in 1990, starring Tim Curry as the demonic clown Pennywise) is moving forward and will be split into two two-hour films to accommodate the massive scope of the novel. Cary Fukunaga (director of last year's Jane Eyre) is attached to direct.

IT tells the story of a group of childhood friends who faced an immeasurable evil. Now in their adulthood, having all but forgotten their childhood friends and their childhood selves, they are called back to band together once more by the memory of a promise they made.

In addition to IT, five other King projects are currently in development: The Stand, The Dark Tower, The Ten O'Clock People, and Carrie. More news on this project to follow as it develops.

Ugh. Puke on my shoes with this crap already.
Stephen King has dozens of novels and short story collections that could be mined for new films if Hollywood really wants to bring his work to screen. Why on earth must they constantly retread the same stories?

Besides of which, no one can top Tim Curry as Pennywise.
