THR is reporting that Hugh Laurie (House) is in negotiations to play the villain in MGM and Sony’s remake of the classic 1987 sci-fi action movie RoboCop. If cast Laurie will play the evil and ultra-rich CEO of Omnicorp, the company that makes the titular character.
Jose Padilha will helm the film, which sees The Killing's Joel Kinnaman as the title hero, a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer.
Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson have also been cast in the remake. Oldman will play the role of the scientist-creator, while Jackson is tackling the role of the media mogul.
