Another familiar face has been added to the already impressive cast of Jose Padilha's reimagining of RoboCop.

As per Deadline, veteran thesp Jackie Earle Haley has signed for the remake and will star as a character named Maddox. Haley's character is said to be the man responsible for dispensing the military training to Robocop.

Haley joins a cast which includes Joel Kinnaman as the titular character, Gary Oldman as the scientist-creator, Hugh Laurie as the evil and ultra-rich CEO of OmniCorp, Samuel L. Jackson as Pat Novak the charismatic media mogul and powerful force in the RoboCop world and Abbie Cornish.

Currently RoboCop has a tentative release date of August 9th, 2013.

In the film, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.

Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father, and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life.

He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
