The Follow-Up To Prometheus Is On The Way With Fassbender & Repace Returning

New postby Brian Massey » Wed Aug 01, 2012 11:57 pm

Today we received a bit of exciting news regarding Ridley Scott's sort-of Alien prequel, Prometheus.

It looks as if the heavily rumored sequel to this year's summer blockbuster Prometheus is indeed heading our way in the very near future. And why wouldn't it be? The flick grossed $303 million globally to date, which is a very solid number for the $130 million-budgeted film.

According to THR who recently caught up with Fox, director Ridley Scott and the studio are actively pushing ahead with a follow-up (stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are already signed) and are talking to new writers because Prometheus co-scribe Damon Lindelof might not be available. "Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can't rush it," says Fox president of production Emma Watts, who also has overseen the successful reboots of the X-Men and Planet of the Apes franchises by turning over the reigns to innovative filmmakers. A Prometheus sequel rumored to be titled "Paradise" would be released in 2014 or 2015.

Hopefully we'll have more on this breaking story.

I'd like to know how much of that $303 million would have been refunded had the viewers of Prometheus the option to ask for it.
