According to Deadline, MGM, Screen Gems and director Kim Peirce have made their decision and made the formal offer today to Chloe Moretz. If negotiations work out, she'll play the title role in the remake of the Brian DePalma original that was based on the 1974 Stephen King bestseller.

The studio and Peirce have been meeting with actresses for the past two weeks. Word all along was that while names like Dakota Fanning, Haley Bennett, Emily Browning, Bella Heathcote, and Lily Collins were all circulating, Peirce and the studio had an eye on Moretz. The studio denied it at the time, but what actually happened is, Moretz didn’t meet with Peirce until last weekend. She got the job immediately.
While Moretz is still unsigned at the moment, the actress is already tweeting her excitement about the new job. "Never been so happy in my life!" she wrote to her 202,000 followers. "Thank you Kim Pierce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime i will never forget!"
Although this already sounds like a done deal, stay tuned for an official announcement.
